Is there a Link Between Diet and Acne?

A medical study published by The Journal of the American Medical Association in 1969 seemed to put this theory to rest. The subject of this study had been to determine whether there was any link between the consumption of chocolate and acne outbreaks. At the conclusion of the study, it was determined that chocolate did not have any influence over acne incidents.

When the study was published, it served to indicate unequivocally that there was absolutely no link between diet and acne. Manufacturers of fast food and chocolate products heaved a huge sigh of relief as sales returned to normal. Yet, despite the fact that this study indicated acne did not result from the consumption of certain food products, there remained doubt.

Some individuals noticed with curiosity that their acne appeared to be worse at certain times than others; usually coinciding with eating specific foods. Was it a coincidence or was it possible that there really is a link between diet and acne? If so, is it possible for acne to be controlled by dietary management? The answer to these questions lies within the makeup of the human body itself and how the body processes work-specifically how the human body processes food products.
