The Risks and
Side Effects of Prescription Acne Medications
Internal Cleansing is one of the most important steps to gaining acne free skin. Just as you clean your external organ every day, your skin, so too do your internal organs need periodic cleansing. The need for this cleansing is increased as your consumption of improper foods and exposure to chemicals increases.
Now the first organ to cleanse properly is the bowels, the intestinal areas. Why is this the first one to cleanse? Because this is the normal means of elimination for your entire body. Let us consider if you were to cleanse your liver first. You may clean your liver for a time, but the body will not be able to properly eliminate the extra waste that is coming out from the liver and it will very likely result in more acne as the body tries to deal with the waste. This is why it is extremely important to have a proper functioning intestinal area so that as you continue to clean your other internal organs that waste will be eliminated quickly and efficiently.
In addition, the intestines are one area acne sufferers universally have problems with. There is a very simple explanation for this, if your waste elimination organs could deal with all the waste they are being asked to deal with, then you would not have acne. There is always an elimination problem in an acne sufferer. The colon needs to be cleansed.
Now, what is the best way to clean out the bowels? There are a variety of ways to do this with all types of products on the market. Generally they fall into a few categories. They are the laxative type, herbal type, and oxygen type.
We would never recommend the laxative type generally used by the standard medical establishment. These are unnatural and don't help the body. In addition, they can cause dependency. The only case where there is an exception to this is with the use of epsom salts during a liver flush. Epsom salts are a poison and the body opens up the bowels to eliminate them quickly. You don't want to use them as a standard cleanser.
Herbal products generally have one of these three ingredients as their main one: senna, cascara sagrada, or psyllium. Of these, I would not recommend senna. Senna seems to be treated by the body as somewhat unwanted, essentially the bowels are stimulated to release what they contain. Cascara sagrada is a very effective herb that essentially gives the intestines a workout. You can literally feel them working again when you take it. Be sure to drink a lot of water with this herb. A good example of a product using this ingredient is the 4 Total Cleanse product.
Psyllium is also an effective colon cleanse. It works similarly to cascara sagrada however there is not much of a workout of the intestines. Cascara sagrada is the only ingredient we are aware of that actually can improve the effectiveness of the intestines. An example of a good psyllium based product is Colonix.
Finally there are the oxygen based cleansers. These attempt to get oxygen
into the intestines and quickly break up any matter that is stuck inside.
They can be extremely effective. The products in this category are Oxy
Powder and Colosan. These will have your bowels moving very quickly. In fact
you will have what seems like diarrhea in the morning if you take too much.
Their effectiveness is very high. Essentially these type of products just
blow all the matter that is inside the intestines out of the body. We
recommend starting with an oxygen based cleanser and then moving to a
product with cascara sagrada in it to improve the actual function of the
intestines.
