The Risks and
Side Effects of Prescription Acne Medications
Fruits are a confusing area for anyone struggling with acne. Some diet recommendations are packed with advice saying to "eat lots of fruits and veggies and cut out meat and sugar" and other similar statements. Other places might mention that fruits are sugar filled are spike insulin and such. What's the truth and how do fruits really affect the acne sufferer?
First, fruits are indeed a good food when eaten in their natural state. That is, without pesticides and without refined sugar poured on top. However, there are two main mistakes that are made with regards to fruit.
The first mistake is that people make them an essential nutritional aspect of their diet. This is a mistake because fruits are not very nutritious foods in terms of their actual nutrition delivered to the body for fuel. In other words, you need to eat a lot of fruits to maintain energy for a short time. They digest quickly and are gone. Fruits are still composed primarily of simple sugars (not to be confused with refined sugar) which means they are quickly consumed for energy. Everyone knows fruits don't satisfy hunger for a long period of time the way good meat, fats and animal products do.
The second mistake people make with fruits is eating them at the wrong time. Often people consume their fruits after their main meat and potatoes or rice meal! This is really the worst food combining mistake you can make. If you make all the other food combining errors and don't make this one you will be fine. Fruits need to be eaten alone. If you must eat them at a meal, you eat them at the start and hopefully can wait a few minutes for the next course. The reason why for this is that when consumed fruits immediately trigger the body's response to digest sugars, completely ignoring the quality food in your stomach. When you mix all these foods together you tend to get acid buildup in the stomach and indigestion. Remember, foods that take the longest to digest should be eaten last.
Eat your fruits first thing in the morning and be done for the day is my suggestion if you must eat fruits. They can have a good role in cleaning out the body when used like this. They often stimulate the bowels and have a cleansing effect.
Remember that fruits are not an essential food group. In the traditional diets of peoples around the globe fruits were just not eaten, often due to them not being around.
It also is a good idea for acne sufferers to cut out all fruits entirely for a while. You really need to cut your sugar intake to near zero for fastest recovery. Later on you can add in fruits without a problem. So, beware of making fruits the main part of your diet, and avoid combining them with other foods at the same time.
