Vegan Diets for Acne - Holy Grail or Fool's Hope?

Often diet advice for acne follows these lines, "Increase your fruits and veggies and whole grain intake, reduce your meat and fatty food consumption." Following this advice to its logical extreme we have the vegan diet for acne, which suggests that we avoid all foods that have any animal origin.

So, how effective is this diet for the acne sufferer? Let's take a look at what this diet does. First, it makes your good fat consumption extremely difficult. This often leads to intense feelings of hunger which leads to binges of sugary or other quick foods to make the hunger sensation go away. In addition, bringing your Omega3, 6 and 9 levels back into order and consuming more good fats is one very solid known way of reducing acne. The other problem with a vegan diet for acne is people in general tend to replace good foods (meats, dairy) with sugar or imitation type foods. These products can simply never provide the actual nutrition that real meat and dairy can. Not to mention they taste horrible.

The vegan diet also has no real evidence for ever being used by any traditional culture for raising strong and healthy humans. The only people as a whole that today come close to this to a certain degree are those in extreme poverty. Once poverty is removed, humans naturally choose foods that come from animals.

However, the primary reason in regards to acne to reject the vegan diet is that you must have intake of quality animal products to gain clear skin. (Raw milk, raw cheese, raw cream, raw butter, red meat, poultry, fish, cod liver oil, etc.) These are the foods that will deliver good skin. Not depriving yourself of essential nutrients.
